RIA has an impressive 40 year history. We have been on the leading edge of the radiology
field and have helped shape the practice of radiology in our community. Many of our
radiologists have been pioneers in our field and are known worldwide for their contributions.
Following are some of the more notable points in our history:
- Our company was founded in 1968 by a small group of radiologists who supported the
University of Colorado, Swedish Medical Center, and many of the small towns outside of
the Denver Metro area.
- In the late 1970's, our radiologists saw a CT scanner and purchased the fifth CT scanner
in the United States. They also introduced the concept of a medical center outside of a
hospital, which changed the direction of radiology in the Denver area.
- The name "Radiology Imaging Associates" was created in 1982.
- During the 1980's, Dr. Jobe met with the founders of the Denver Technological Center
about the concept of opening an independent outpatient imaging center in area. RIA rented
the first floor of the Centrum building at 8200 Belleview and included a breast center
and a CT scanner at that location. The Centrum center was named the "Sally Jobe
Comprehensive Breast Centre" in honor of Dr. Jobe's wife, Sally, who died from
breast cancer.
- The Sally Jobe Comprehensive Breast Centre developed into the premier site in the United States
for the diagnosis of breast disease.
- In the early 1990's, RIA built the first radiology wide area network in Denver.
- In 1997, RIA began using the "Invision Imaging" for our outpatient imaging centers.
- In 2008, RIA decided to leverage the great reputations of both "Invision Imaging"
and "Sally Jobe" by combining them into one name - "Invision Sally Jobe."
