05/21/2013 - Osteoporosis Screening Now Available in Cherry Creek

According to the National Bone Health Alliance, asking your doctor for an osteoporosis screening is the most important step you can take to keep your bones strong and healthy for as long as possible.

Osteoporosis screening, also known as a DXA bone density test, is now available at our Invision Sally Jobe in Cherry Creek location on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays! 05/15/2013 - Invision Sally Jobe on 4 News Health Watch

Following Angelina Jolie’s announcement regarding her choice to have a double mastectomy, 4 News aired a story on May 14th that talks about the impact of genetic testing and tells the story of a Colorado woman who faced the same decision. The story includes an interview with Invision Sally Jobe’s Genetic Counselor, Mary Frievogel, who discusses the power that can come from being informed.

05/14/2013 - RIA Radiologists Inducted as ACR Fellows

Congratulations to Drs. Matthew Fleishman, Richard Obregon, and Andrew Sonin who were inducted as fellows in the American College of Radiology (ACR) at a formal ceremony during an ACR conference the week of May 5th.

The ACR is a national nonprofit association serving more than 34,000 radiologists and other medical professionals with programs focusing on the practice of radiology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services. One of the highest honors the ACR can bestow on a member is recognition as a fellow. ACR Fellows demonstrate a history of service to the College, organized radiology, teaching or research. Only about 10% of ACR members achieve this distinction.

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Nurses touch our lives in a variety of ways and places. They work in emergency rooms, school clinics, and medical centers like Invision Sally Jobe. Nurses faces the challenge of working with people who are often at their worst. 04/12/2013 - Invision Sally Jobe at 9Health Fairs

Invision Sally Jobe is offering osteoporosis screening at two 9Health Fairs. We’ll be at Swedish Hospital from 7am to 12pm on Saturday, April 13th and at Sky Ridge Medical Center from 7am to 12pm on Saturday, April 20th. This screening provides you with a score that indicates your risk for osteoporosis. Your physician can then use this information to determine if you need further testing, supplements, or lifestyle changes to protect your bone health.

Stop by our booth to take advantage of our free screening. The 9Health Fairs also offer many other screenings for free or a low fee, such as blood chemistry, lung function, blood pressure, breast cancer, skin cancer, prostate cancer, gluten sensitivity, and Vitamin D 25-Hydroxy level. 03/28/2013 - MRI Scanner Installation in Lone Tree

Our new MRI scanner magnet arrived at our Lone Tree location on Saturday, March 30th to beautiful blue skies and 60 degree weather. The installation went smoothly while a crowd of onlookers watched the the slow and steady process. Our new magnet is securely in place awaiting the opening of our new location in April.

03/28/2013 - Colorectal Cancer Awareness

Did you know that colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in U.S. men and women combined? The good news is that 80-90% of these deaths are preventable with colorectal cancer screening. The bad news is that only about ½ of adults between the ages of 50 and 75 get screened. Everyone should begin colorectal cancer screening at age 50, possibly earlier if you’re high risk.

This spring, Invision Sally Jobe will open a new imaging center in Lone Tree. Construction of a medical imaging center is a complex endeavor, particularly when it includes an MRI as this center will. Due to the size and sensitivity of the MRI scanner, it has extensive installation requirements. Join us as we chronicle the unique construction of our new center.

03/22/2013 - Changes at our Castle Rock Center

Our Castle Rock patients have asked for convenience and we’re responding! Starting on March 11, 2013, patients at Invision Sally Jobe in Castle Rock can have both a screening mammogram and a DXA exam (bone density or body composition) during the same visit. Additionally, we’re change our days and hours of service. Beginning April 29th, our Castle Rock center will be open from 8am-4:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Keep in mind that since our Castle Rock center is part of the Invision Sally Jobe network, you can have your exam there and it will be read by the same specialty, board-certified radiologists. They will be able to compare your exam results to your results from previous exams done at any Invision Sally Jobe location. Thank you for choosing Invision Sally Jobe!

02/22/2013 - F.D.A. Approves Breast Cancer Drug

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new type of breast cancer medication that targets tumor cells while sparing healthy ones. The drug Kadcyla from Roche combines their established cancer drug, Herceptin, with a powerful chemotherapy drug. It also includes a third chemical that links the medicines together. The chemical keeps the cocktail intact until it binds to a cancer cell. It then releases the toxic chemotherapy drug to kill the cancer.

Cancer researchers say the drug is an important step forward because it delivers more medication while reducing the unpleasant side effects of chemotherapy. Learn more about Kadcyla and the main clinical trial that led to its approval in a New York Times article from February 22, 2013.

02/01/2013 - How's your Heart?

Heart disease is the leading cause of death among American men and women. High risk individuals are encouraged to have a Heartscreen CT exam to evaluate the level of calcium in their coronary arteries. The presence of calcium in the coronary arteries is a reliable indicator of heart disease. Early detection is key to taking the appropriate actions to reduce your heart attack risk and protect your health.

During February, Invision Sally Jobe is offering HeartScreen CT exams, also known as coronary artery calcium scoring, for a reduced rate of $99. 01/16/2013 - Dr. Google?

The Pew Internet and American Life Project has found that while most Americans go online for health info, they still rely on their doctors for treatment and guidance. Americans use the internet to self-diagnose, fact-check, prepare for doctors’ appointments, and follow-up on doctors’ appointments. We research our own health conditions as well as those of relatives.

Using the internet for health information is a natural extension of how people use search engines to find so many other things. Invision Sally Jobe believes it’s important to offer reliable and useful information regarding our exams and health conditions on our website. 01/09/2013 - Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) Fertility Test

A hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is an exam that looks at the condition of the uterus, fallopian tubes and abdominal area around them. It is primarily used to determine reasons why a woman may have difficulty becoming pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy. It is also done for women who have had tubal ligation or permanent contraceptive devices implanted into the fallopian tubes to verify the effectiveness of these procedures.

11/29/2012 - Dr. Barke Speaks at RSNA

Many RIA radiologists are leaders in their fields and often educate their colleagues and other healthcare professionals on topics within their specialties.

Dr. Lora Barke, Medical Director of Invision Sally Jobe Breast Centers, presented a lecture, "Breast MR Cases: Challenging Diagnostic Cases," on November 28, 2012 at the Radiologic Society of North America's 98th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago. The conference features industry leaders and breakthroughs in medical imaging.

11/28/2012 - Double Mastectomy Study

A study completed by Dr. Sarah Hawley, an associate professor of internal medicine at the University of Michigan Health System, indicates that the benefits of a double mastectomy in patients with breast cancer in one breast may not outweigh the risks for many of those patients.

10/03/2012 - Breasts of Colorado

Invision Sally Jobe is proud to participate in the Breasts of Colorado project to raise money for Sense of Security, an organization which assists breast cancer patients while they are going through treatment. In addition to making a donation, Invision Sally Jobe has sponsored a model and artist to cast and paint a bust. The bust will be on display at the fountain at the Englewood City Center after the Race for the Cure on Sunday, October 7th.

Local artist, Charles Parson, painted the bust as a tribute to the Spanish Peaks in Southern Colorado, which were named “Wahatoya, “ or “nature’s breasts,” by Native Americans.

08/29/2012 - 2012 Crohn’s and Colitis Take Steps Walk

Invision Sally Jobe is proud to have been a Ruby Sponsor for the 2012 Crohn’s and Colitis Take Steps Walk held in Denver’s City Park on June 16th. Approximately 1700 community members participated, raising over $200,000 for this cause. The Take Steps Walk program is the largest fundraising program for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, with the Denver event being the largest in the Rocky Mountain region.

Invision Sally Jobe educated event participants on virtual colonoscopies, a highly accurate and less invasive method for colorectal cancer screening.

07/31/2012 - Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound is a dynamic, non-invasive exam that allows high-resolution, real-time evaluation of musculoskeletal disorders. This exam, which is an excellent compliment to MRI, is now being offered at our Centrum, Suite 200E location. Invision Sally Jobe is one of the first centers in the Denver area to invest in building a team of advanced specialty trained radiologists and sonographers to provide this new option.

05/21/2012 - Our Cherry Creek Facility is Relocating!

Our loyal Cherry Creek customers deserve more. As of June 12th we will relocate just steps away! Our new Cherry Creek location has a 'Spa Like' setting and includes space for us to add additional screening services in the future. We'll also have reserved Invision Sally Jobe parking for your convenience. The new location will be at 3300 East First Avenue, at the Northeast corner of South Adams Street and East First Avenue in the Keybank Building.

01/19/2012 - Study Shows Lung Cancer Screening CT Better than X-ray at Preventing Lung Cancer Deaths

The National Cancer Institute funded the National Lung Screening Trial to assess the effectiveness of CT lung cancer screening compared to chest x-rays. The trial results, which were published in June 2011, show that CT lung cancer screening resulted in a 20% decrease in lung cancer deaths. Invision Sally Jobe offers lung cancer screening CTs, which use a very low radiation dose, at several of our South Denver Metro locations.

01/17/2012 - Improved Services in Englewood!

We are consolidating our Swedish MOB and Englewood offices to 401 W. Hampden Place, Suite 40 which will be our single location in the Swedish neighborhood as of January 30th. Located just two minutes from the Swedish campus, this facility offers convenient parking and expanded hours beginning in February.

Invision Sally Jobe is backed by Radiology Imaging Associates (RIA), the largest radiology practice in the region. Because RIA reads for many hospitals in the Denver area, this provides a strong continuum of care, as their expertise transfers from the hospital to the ISJ outpatient setting.

08/26/2011 - 'Heart attack waiting to happen' isn't always obvious

As reported on CNN on August 26, 2011, a ‘heart attack waiting to happen’ isn’t always obvious. Even people who seem healthy and eat right may be at higher risk than they realize.

The most reliable way to tell if you’re at risk for heart attack or stroke is to have imaging exams that provide information about the condition of your arteries. Both exams recommended in an accompanying CNN article (“Will you have a heart attack? Tests that can tell”) - coronary calcium scan and carotid ultrasound – are offered by Invision Sally Jobe. 07/31/2011 - SBI Position Statement: FDA Warns That Thermography Is Not an Alternative to Mammography

The Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) recently issued a statement saying they do not support the use of thermography/infrared imaging of the breast as either a screening tool in the detection of breast cancer or as an adjunctive diagnostic tool. Breast thermography was approved by the FDA in 1982 only as an optional exam in addition to mammography. There are currently no studies supporting the use of thermography alone or in addition to mammography that show clear benefits of the technique.
