Advancing the Field of Cardiac Imaging
Several RIA radiologists focus on the expanding field of cardiac imaging. Our experienced
radiologists interpret all manner of heart imaging tests, including coronary calcium scoring,
coronary CT angiography (CCTA), cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine stress
testing and PET myocardial imaging. RIA cardiac imagers were some of the first in the country to
adopt CCTA and PET imaging of the heart, which means they have more experience than many others in
reading these state-of-the-art studies.
Due to this in-depth expertise, our physicians are helping to define cardiac imaging techniques
for all medical professionals. They have published in the field of cardiac imaging including
leading medical journals, and are in the process of writing a textbook for McGraw-Hill.
RIA radiologists also offer a Cardiac Imaging training course for other physicians on how
to interpret Coronary CTA. Our "
Coronary CTA - Revolutionizing Cardiac Care" course
has been attended by over 1,000 medical professionals in the fields of radiology and cardiology
from across the country.
Minimizing Radiation Dose
At RIA, we understand our patients’ concerns about radiation exposure. That is why our radiologists carefully monitor radiation doses during all screenings. And it’s why our cardiac imagers were some of the first to practice prospectively gated cardiac CT angiography, an innovative imaging technique requiring minimal exposure, while achieving high quality cardiac images. For conditions such as pediatric and congenital heart disease we offer state-of-the-art cardiac MRI, which has no associated radiation exposure.
Interpreting the Entire Exam
This understanding of radiation exposure and the ability to interpret the entire exam are two of the greatest benefits of having your cardiac study reviewed by a radiologist.
Most cardiac imaging studies use highly advanced technologies that enable your physicians to see not only the heart, but also your lungs, bones and upper abdomen. Therefore, our physicians are able to diagnose other conditions that may be causing chest pain or other symptoms similar to heart disease, such as pulmonary embolus, pericarditis, pleuritis or lymphatic disease.
Cardiac Imaging Physicians
Many of our cardiac imagers have completed residencies and fellowships at some of the leading
academic hospitals in the world. Through their publications and training, they are helping to define
the standards for cardiac imaging techniques. Following are the RIA radiologists in this field:
